CIRCULAR LETTER SENT BY JOINT COMMITTEE TO VARIOUS LOCAL AUTHORITIES

The Joint Committee on State-Sponsored Bodies has asked me to draw your attention to the enclosed copy of an advertisement which appeared in the four daily newspapers on 20 July, 1979.*


The Joint Committee would welcome a submission setting out the views of your Council in relation to the National Building Agency Limited, with particular reference to:—


(a) the success or otherwise of having housing provided through the NBA,


(b) the adequacy of consultation between the Council and the NBA to agree a brief prior to commencement of housing design,


(c) the adequacy of consultation between the Council and the NBA to agree housing design and construction programme,


(d) the adequacy of NBA supervision of construction and the procedures of taking over a completed scheme, and


(e) the adequacy of the completed houses, the degree to which faults or problems have arisen and the procedures for rectifying faults.


If your Council wishes to make a submission, the Joint Committee is prepared to extend to Friday 7th December, 1979, the deadline referred to in the advertisement.
