LETTER TO CLERK TO JOINT COMMITTEE FROM DEPUTY MICHAEL KEATING

Thank you for your recent circular letter concerning your ongoing examination of various Bodies.

I would like it put, through the Committee, to the representatives of the National Building Agency Ltd. that, in view of the output of the NBA and the increasing number of complaints re. the standards of the work involved, the present structure and scope of the NBA can now be called into question. Their views on their relevance or capacity to cope, in view of the growing housing crisis, could usefully be discussed with them in my view. There appears to be growing dissatisfaction in some quarters at least about the ability of the NBA to cope and a discussion on these lines would, in my view, be very timely.
