LETTER TO CLERK TO JOINT COMMITTEE FROM WESTMEATH COUNTY COUNCIL

I have been asked by Mr. D. Hurley, County Manager to refer to your letter of the 14th November, 1979, regarding the examination currently being carried out in relation to the activities of the National Building Agency Limited. I wish to inform you that Westmeath County Council has just had a scheme of 55 houses completed in Patrick Street, Mullingar by the N.B.A. The experience unfortunately has not been a very happy one. This was perhaps due in the main to the choice of builder who turned out to be very unsatisfactory during the progress of the scheme. As a result although the scheme commenced on the 22nd November, 1976, the last of the houses were not completed until September, 1979.
