PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE

1. The Joint Committee met at 7 p.m.


2. Members Present:


The following members were present:


Senator FitzGerald (in the Chair), Deputies Daly, D’Arcy*, Flanagan, Keegan, Leonard, McCreevy, Noonan, O’Keeffe, Quinn and Smith; Senators Hussey, Hyland and Robinson.


7. Financing of the Community Budget. Motion proposed (Senator Robinson):


“That, in view of the serious situation as regards the financing of the Communities revealed in the discussion which Members of the Joint Committee had with Commissioner Tugendhat on 4th October, 1979, the Joint Committee should ask for an urgent debate in each House on its forty-seventh report with a view to seeking urgent Government action on the matter during the currency of the Irish presidency.”


Motion, by leave, withdrawn.


Resolved: That a Report be made to both Houses drawing attention to the forty-seventh Report of the Joint Committee on resources for financing the Community budget and requesting a debate in the Dáil and Seanad; that the Report be drafted by the Chairman and circulated to all Members of the Joint Committee; and that if no objection is made to the draft within 48 hours the draft would be deemed to be the Report of the Joint Committee. The Joint Committee adjourned at 8.15 p.m.
