IMEACHTAÍ AN CHOMHCHOISTE

PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE

1. The Joint Committee met at 4.20 p.m.

2. Members Present.

The following Members were present:

Senator FitzGerald (in the Chair), Deputies O’Keeffe and Smith; Senators Conroy, Hussey, Molony, Mulcahy and Robinson.

3. Draft Report on Exchange of Young Workers.

Senator Robinson brought forward a Draft Report which was read as follows:—

(i) Paragraphs 1 to 3, inclusive, agreed to.

(ii) Paragraph 4.

Amendment proposed (Senator FitzGerald):

“To add after the first sentence in paragraph 4 the following:

‘The Joint Committee is indebted to Senator Robinson and her SubCommittee for their work’.”

Amendment agreed to.

Paragraph, as amended, agreed to.

(iii) Paragraphs 5 to 15, inclusive, agreed to.

(iv) Paragraph 16.

Amendment proposed (Senator FitzGerald):

“In the last sentence of the paragraph to delete ‘This suggestion’ and substitute ‘It is a suggestion which’.”

Amendment agreed to.

Amendment proposed (Senator FitzGerald):

“To add to the paragraph the following:

‘In selecting participants the Committee believes that there should be due regard to skills for which a need exists in this country’.”

Amendment agreed to.

Paragraph, as amended, agreed to.

(v) Paragraph 17 agreed to.

Draft Report, as amended, agreed to.
