IMEACHTAÍ AN CHOMHCHOISTEPROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEEDé Céadaoin, 23 Márta, 1977Wednesday, 23rd March, 19771. The Joint Committee met at 4 p.m. 2. Members Present. The following members were present: Deputies Haughey (in the Chair), Collins, Desmond, Dockrell and Thornley; Senators FitzGerald, Robinson and Ryan. 3. Draft Report on Functions and Work of Joint Committee. The Chairman brought forward a Draft Report which was read as follows:— (i) Sections 1 to 4 inclusive, agreed to. (ii) Section 5. Amendment Proposed (Deputy Haughey): “In page 7 to add the following new paragraph:— ‘The Joint Committee also considers it important that the views of the Members of the present Dáil and Seanad on the role and work of the Joint Committee should be on record. Accordingly it recommends that a debate be held in each House on this report’.” Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Section agreed to. (iii) Sections 6, 7 and 8 agreed to. (iv) Amendment proposed (Deputy Desmond): “To add the following Appendix to the draft Report:— ‘APPENDIX Members of the Joint Committee

The Joint Committee adjourned at 5.45 p.m. * Member of European Parliament. 2 Thomas Dunne resigned as a Member of the European Parliament as from 5 January, 1977. 3 Gerald L’Estrange was designated a Member of the European Parliament as from 2 February, 1977. |
