REPORT

1. The statement made by Deputy Flor Crowley in the Dáil on 3rd March, 1976, alleging that the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, Deputy Conor Cruise-O’Brien, was a “former member of the Communist Party”, which had been referred to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges for examination and report on 4th March was considered at meetings on 11th March, 29th April and 13th May.


2. At the meeting on 13th May the Committee decided to report to the Dáil on the matter as follows:—


“That this Committee find that Deputy Flor Crowley was in breach of the privilege of Dáil Éireann by reason of his personal allegations made against the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, Deputy Conor Cruise-O’Brien, in the Dáil on 3rd March, 1976.”
