IMEACHTAÍ AN CHOMHCHOISTEPROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEEDé Céadaoin, 25 Feabhra, 1976Wednesday, 25th February, 19761. The Joint Committee met at 4 p.m. 2. Members Present. The following Members were present:— Deputies Haughey (in the Chair), Collins, Dockrell, Fahey, Fitzgerald, Nolan and Staunton; Senators Robinson and Ryan. An apology for inability to attend was received from Senator Lenihan. 3. Fixing of Agricultural Prices for 1976-77. The Committee considered the Commission’s proposals on the Fixing of Prices for Certain Agricultural Products for 1976-77 and Certain Connected Measures. The Committee decided to recommend that time should be made available in both Houses for discussion of the proposals before decisions are taken on them by the Council of Ministers and that the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries should meet the Joint Committee at an early date to hear the views of its members and to discuss with them the implications of the various proposals. It also agreed to recommend that for future years a procedure should be established whereby it should have an opportunity of discussing the proposals for farm prices with the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries and that an opportunity should be given for a debate in both Houses before decisions are taken by the Council. The Committee agreed that a report should be laid before both Houses forthwith setting out the foregoing recommendations. 4. Adjournment. The Joint Committee adjourned at 4.35 p.m. |
