PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE

Wednesday, 10th December, 1975

1. The Joint Committee met at 4.30 p.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:

Deputies Haughey (in the Chair), Desmond, Dockrell, Esmonde, Gibbons, Herbert and Nolan; Senators Boland, Robinson and Ryan. Apologies for inability to attend were received from Deputies Dunne and Thornley.

3. Draft Report on Proposed Council Regulation on the Transitional Common Organisation of the Market in Sheepmeat.

The Chairman brought forward a Draft Report which was read as follows:—

(i) Paragraphs 1 to 6 inclusive, agreed to.

(ii) Paragraph 7.

Amendment proposed (Deputy Gibbons):

“Between the fourth and fifth sentences to insert the following:—

‘In the absence of an intervention system, the Joint Committee would favour the introduction of a Community deficiency payment system on the lines of that operated for beef in the United Kingdom’”.

Amendment agreed to.

Paragraph, as amended, agreed to.

(iii) Paragraph 8 agreed to.

Draft Report, as amended, agreed to.

Ordered: To report accordingly.
