APPENDIX 46.

RESETTLEMENT SCHEME.

The number of persons who benefited under the Resettlement Scheme from its inception in January, 1968 to 31st March, 1970 was 79. The scheme was considerably extended on 14th October, 1971, from which date it included emigrants returning to work in Ireland. The numbers benefitting under the scheme since its extension have increased greatly. In the year ended 31st December, 1971, 168 persons, which included 2 returning emigrants, were assisted. In 1972, 995 persons were assisted. The following is a break-down of this figure:—
