In the course of the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee on 22nd July, 1971, when the Vote for Transport and Power was being considered by the Committee, I undertook to furnish a note in relation to Deputy FitzGerald’s question whether the Minister for Finance had been consulted about the manner in which an investment of £15m. by him in the Air Companies in the financial year 1969/70 was shown in the Companies’ accounts for that year.

In response to that undertaking, I confirm that no consultation took place in regard to this matter either between the Department of Finance and the Department of Transport and Power or between the Department of Finance and the Air Companies.
