PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE

Wednesday, 30 June, 1971.

1. The Committee met at 4 p.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Barrett, R. Burke, E. Collins, FitzGerald, H. Gibbons, Keating and MacSharry.


3. The Committee was informed that the Attorney General was not prepared to allow the Chief State Solicitor to act for the Committee on the grounds that a conflict of interest could arise.


4. Ordered: that Chief Superintendent John P. Fleming be put on call for next Tuesday’s meeting.


5. Ordered: that Mr. Martin E. Marren, solicitor, be engaged by the Committee subject to the sanction of the Minister for Finance for the necessary expenditure.


6. Ordered: that the Chairman have discretion as to the solicitor and counsel to be engaged should the circumstances so require.


7. The Committee deliberated.


8. Adjournment.


The Committee adjourned at 4.45 p.m. until 3.45 p.m. on Tuesday next.
