OFFICE OF PUBLIC WORKS.

COMPILATION OF PROPERTY RENTAL 1968/69.

Mapping:


During the year 139 properties were surveyed and 131 (including two surveyed in previous year) mapped. The bulk of the properties concerned consists of houses built for the Garda Síochána by the National Building Agency. The counties concerned were: Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Kerry, Kildare, Laois, Leitrim, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Westmeath and Wexford. The Surveyors were also engaged in preparation of maps for leases, sales, etc. and research work in the Valuation Office and the Land Registry.


From the initiation of the property rental 1762 premises (including 129 National Building Agency houses) have been surveyed and 1728 premises (including 120 N.B.A. houses) have been mapped. Survey work remains to be done in about 241 cases and mapping in about 277 cases, excluding National Monuments and State-owned National Schools.


Legal Work


There was virtually no progress on the legal work during the year, because o continued staff shortages in the Office of the Chief State Solicitor.


Secretariat


In addition to the counties mentioned in the reports of the two previous years, records of all properties (exclusive of N.B.A. houses) in Counties Clare, Kildare, Kilkenny, Limerick, Mayo, Meath, Tipperary, Waterford and Westmeath were completed. The records previously prepared in respect of properties in Counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Longford, Louth, Monaghan, Roscommon and Sligo have been issued to the District Architects concerned, for the purpose of their undertaking regular perambulations of those properties in conjunction with routine maintenance inspections.


Deeds of all properties remain in the custody of the section.
