APPENDIX XXIII.

OVERTIME PAYMENTS: NOTING IN APPROPRIATION ACCOUNTS

An Cléireach,

An Coiste um Chuntais Phoiblí.

I am directed by the Minister for Finance to refer to the comments of the Public Accounts Committee at their meeting of 23 February 1967 regarding extra remuneration notes to Appropriation Accounts, and to inform you that Accounting Officers have been instructed to include in their Appropriation Accounts, commencing with the year 1966-67, a note showing the total expenditure on overtime,

With regard to the existing practice of noting, in Appropriation Accounts, payments to individual officers of extra remuneration exceeding £50, the Minister feels that, in view of the change in money values since this limit was last revised in 1950-51, the figure of £50 should, commencing with 1967-68 Appropriation Accounts, be increased to £100.

The Minister trusts that the Committee will concur in this proposal.
