PUBLIC ASSISTANCE FOOTWEAR SCHEME.

At the proceedings of the Committee on the 18th June, 1964, in connection with the Appropriation Account of the Vote for Social Assistance, 1962-63, I undertook to supply further information in connection with the Public Assistance Footwear Scheme. The allocations notified to local authorities prior to the commencement of each year’s scheme are based on the figures for the previous year.

The amount allocated was not utilised to the full extent in the following areas:—
