I am directed by the Select Committee on Statutory Instruments to state that it has been considering the Electricity Supply Board (Members) Superannuation Scheme, 1961.

The Select Committee wishes to be furnished with a memorandum containing your Department’s observations on Article 11 of the Scheme in the light of the views set out on page 11 of the Select Committee’s Report (T.183—Pr. 6167) of 3rd August, 1961.

I am directed by the Minister for Transport and Power to refer to your minute of 12th July, 1962, regarding Article 11 of the Electricity Supply Board (Members) Superannuation Scheme, 1961.

The Minister is advised that the provision in question does not appear to be one which is not within the powers conferred on him under Section 16 of the Electricity (Supply) (Amendment) Act, 1961.

I am to state, however, that the comments of the Committee have been noted and will be borne in mind when any scheme for superannuation is being prepared in the future.
