SAVINGS BANK FUND: STAFF COSTS.

At the proceedings of the Committee on the 21st March, 1963, I undertook to furnish additional information as to why receipts from the Savings Bank Fund had not increased as a result of pay increases in the same proportion as those from the Social Insurance Fund. The explanation is that receipts from the Savings Bank Fund were less affected by the pay increases, because of the incidence of payment to certain grades, than were those from the Social Insurance Fund, and that the effect of the increase was to some extent absorbed by unforeseen savings in staff costs.
