APPENDIX XXV.FORMAT OF CERTAIN ESTIMATES.Cléireach an Choiste um Chuntais Phoiblí. I am directed by the Minister for Finance to inform the Committee of Public Accounts that with a view to simplifying accounting procedure he proposes further changes in the format of the volume of Estimates for Public Services. The Minister trusts that the Committee will have no objection to the following changes which he intends to introduce in the Estimates as from 1962-63:— Vote No. 6—Office of the Minister for Finance It is proposed to amalgamate subheads A (Office of the Minister for Finance), A.1. (Chief Medical Officer for the Civil Service) and B. (Pay-master-General’s Office) into one subhead under the title of Salaries, Wages and Allowances in Part II of the Estimate. Vote No. 18—Law Charges It is proposed to amalgamate subhead A.1. (Attorney General and Staff with A.2. (State Solicitors) in Part II of the Estimate. Vote No. 23—Office of the Minister for Justice It is proposed to amalgamate subheads A.1., A.2., A.3., A.4., A.5., A.6., A.7., in Part II of the Estimate into one subhead under the title of Salaries, Wages and Allowances. Subhead A.4.—Legal and Technical Assistance— which is not at present shown in Part III of the Estimate will appear as a separate item under “Headquarters Staff” in Part III. Vote No. 25—Prisons In Part III, subhead A., it is proposed to amalgamate the items under the heading of Allowances as follows— 1. Items 1 and 9 2. Items 2—6 3. Items 7, 8, 10 (less overtime) Vote No. 49—External Affairs It is proposed to combine subhead A.1. with B.1. and subhead A.2. with B.2. The changes proposed which are in accordance with the recommendations of an Inter-Departmental Committee on the Accounting System relate mainly to Part II of the Estimates concerned. Particulars of the amalgamated subheads will in general continue to be shown in the same detail as heretofore in Part III of the Estimates. (Signed) SEAN F. Vote No. 26—Courts of Justice In Part III, subhead B, it is proposed, within the existing sub-divisions of the subhead, to combine— (a) items 1—5 (b) items 8—15 and 17 (c) items 19—22 into 3 items each entitled “Travelling, Subsistence, Removal and Miscellaneous Expenses”. Vote No. 45—Transport and Power It is proposed in Part III, Appropriations-in-Aid, subhead N, to amalgamate— (i) Items 5, 6, 8 and 10 under one item entitled “Receipts under the Merchant Shipping and Mercantile Marine Acts” and (ii) items 7 and 24 the title of the latter being retained.
