REGISTERS AND RENTALS OF STATE LANDS AND BUILDINGS.

Referring to the letter addressed to you on 21 Deireadh Fómhair, 1960, relative to the compilation of complete registers and rentals of all State Lands and Buildings administered by the Office of Public Works, I enclose a statement of the progress made in the work during the year ended 31st March, 1961.

OFFICE OF PUBLIC WORKS: COMPILATION OF PROPERTY RENTAL, 1960/61.

Mapping.—During the year, 63 properties were surveyed while 79 were mapped, the Counties concerned being Dublin (City and County) Kerry, Limerick, Mayo and Tipperary.

From the initiation of the property rental 1,322 properties have been surveyed while 1,291 have been mapped.

Legal.—The preliminary legal work was done in respect of 87 properties and the final legal work in respect of 87 properties in Counties Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Tipperary, Westmeath and Wexford.

Secretariat.—Of the properties surveyed 82 were finally dealt with for the purposes of the Rental. In addition, the records of title etc., were compiled in respect of 38 minor properties (short-term tenancies, National Schools, etc.). The properties concerned are situated in Counties Donegal, Dublin, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Tipperary, Westmeath and Wexford.

Counties Leitrim and Wexford have now been completed for the purposes of the Rental bringing the total number of completed Counties to 14.

Perambulation.—The systematic perambulation of all properties, whether surveyed or not, in as full a manner as circumstances permitted, was continued throughout the year.
