1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Sweetman (in the Chair), Deputy Sheldon and Senators O’Quigley Ryan and Stanford.


3. Appearances for the Promoters.


Mr. A. Denis Pringle, S.C., Mr. J. V. Coleman, B.L., and Messrs. Barrington and Son, Parliamentary Agents, appeared for the Promoters, the Council of the Institution of Civil Engineers of Ireland.


4. Hearings in support of Preamble.


Mr. A. Denis Pringle, S.C., and Mr. J. V. Coleman, B.L., were heard in support of the Preamble of the Bill and called evidence.


5. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. Frederick Pemberton, B.A., B.A.I., Registrar, The Institution of Civil Engineers of Ireland; Mr. Edward J. F. Bourke, M.E., B.Sc., Vice-President; and Mr. Jeremiah A. O’Riordan, M.A., B.E., M.I.C.E., Vice-President, sworn and examined.

The Committee took the Bill into consideration.

9. Report of Committee.


Draft Report brought in by the Chairman (Deputy Sweetman) read a first and second time and passed as follows:—


The Joint Committee reports that it has examined the Preamble of the Bill and it has found that the allegations therein contained have been proved to its satisfaction. It has also gone through the Bill and has not made any amendment thereto.


Ordered: To report to both Houses accordingly.
