1. The Committee met at 11.15 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:

The Ceann Comhairle, the Cathaoirleach of the Seanad, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach, the Leas-Chathaoirleach of the Seanad, Deputies Booth, Collins, Cunningham, Healy, Kyne, Loughman, MacCarthy, O’Sullivan and Sweetman and Senators Colley, Mrs. Dowdall, Michael Hayes, Murphy, Ó Ciosáin and Ted O’Sullivan.

3. Election of Chairman.

Deputy Healy moved:

“That the Ceann Comhairle be Chairman of the Committee”.

Question put, and agreed to.

The Ceann Comhairle took the Chair accordingly.

4. Scheme for Contributory Pensions for Members.

The Committee had before it material resulting from the preliminary consideration of the matter by the Committee on Procedure and Privileges of each House.

The Committee deliberated.

The Chairman brought forward a Draft Report which was read as follows:—

Paragraphs 1 and 2 agreed to.

Appendix agreed to.

Draft Report agreed to.

Ordered: That the Report be presented to both Houses.

5. Conclusion of Business.

The Committee concluded its business at 12.40 p.m.
