DÁIL ÉIREANN

ORDERS OF REFERENCE.

8th March, 1960:—Resolved: That it is expedient that a Joint Committee consisting of 15 members of the Dáil and 7 members of the Seanad be appointed to consider and make recommendations for the amendment of the law relating to—


(a) the franchise and registration of electors for Dáil and local elections,


(b) the conduct and costs of Dáil elections and expenses falling on candidates at such elections, and


(c) the qualifications and disqualifications for membership of each House of the Oireachtas [Minister for Local Government].


Ordered: That a message be sent to the Seanad requesting its concurrence in this Resolution.


29th March, 1960:—Message from the Seanad:—The following Message was received from the Seanad:—


Seanad Éireann has passed the following Resolution:—


That Seanad Éireann concurs with Dáil Éireann in its Resolution communicated to Seanad Éireann on the 8th day of March, 1960, that it is expedient that a Joint Committee consisting of 15 members of the Dáil and 7 members of the Seanad be appointed to consider and make recommendations for the amendment of the law relating to—


(a) the franchise and registration of electors for Dáil and local elections,


(b) the conduct and costs of Dáil elections and expenses falling on candidates at such elections, and


(c) the qualifications and disqualifications for membership of each House of the Oireachtas.”


Ordered: That a Select Committee consisting of 15 members be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee to be appointed by Seanad Éireann to consider and make recommendations for the amendment of the law relating to—


(a) the franchise and registration of electors for Dáil and local elections,


(b) the conduct and costs of Dáil elections and expenses falling on candidates at such elections, and


(c) the qualifications and disqualifications for membership of each House of the Oireachtas;


That the quorum be five;


That the Committee be nominated by the Committee of Selection [Minister for Local Government].


Message to be sent to the Seanad acquainting it accordingly.


7th April, 1960:—Members nominated to serve on the Joint Committee:


Lionel Booth, Dan Breen, Seán Browne, Liam Cosgrave, Augustine A. Healy, Denis F. Jones, Michael Kitt, Frank Loughman, John McQuillan, Daniel J. Moloney, William Norton, Donogh O’Malley, Denis J. O’Sullivan, George E. Russell and Gerard Sweetman.


SEANAD ÉIREANN

ORDERS OF REFERENCE.

23rd March, 1960:—The Order of the day was read for the consideration of the following Message from Dáil Éireann:—


Dáil Éireann has passed the following Resolution in which the concurrence of Seanad Éireann is desired:—


That it is expedient that a Joint Committee consisting of 15 members of the Dáil and seven members of the Seanad be appointed to consider and make recommendations for the amendment of the law relating to—


(a) the franchise and registration of electors for Dáil and local elections,


(b) the conduct and costs of Dáil elections and expenses falling on candidates at such elections, and


(c) the qualifications and disqualifications for membership of each House of the Oireachtas.”


Resolved: That Seanad Éireann concurs with Dáil Éireann in its Resolution communicated to Seanad Éireann on the 8th day of March, 1960, that it is expedient that a Joint Committee consisting of 15 members of the Dáil and 7 members of the Seanad be appointed to consider and make recommendations for the amendment of the law relating to—

Dáil Éireann has made the following Order:—


That a Select Committee consisting of 15 members be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee to be appointed by Seanad Éireann to consider and make recommendations for the amendment of the law relating to—


(a) the franchise and registration of electors for Dáil and local elections,


(b) the conduct and costs of Dáil elections and expenses falling on candidates at such elections, and


(c) the qualifications and disqualifications for membership of each House of the Oireachtas;


That the quorum be five;


That the Committee be nominated by the Committee of Selection.


Ordered: That a Select Committee consisting of 7 members be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee to be appointed by Dáil Éireann to consider and make recommendations for the amendment of the law relating to—


(a) the franchise and registration of electors for Dáil and local elections,


(b) the conduct and costs of Dáil elections and expenses falling on candidates at such elections, and


(c) the qualifications and disqualifications for membership of each House of the Oireachtas;


That the quorum be three;


That the Committee be nominated by the Committee of Selection [Senator Tomás Ó Maoláin].
