ORDERS OF REFERENCE.

1st May, 1957:—Ordered: That a Committee on Procedure and Privileges consisting of the Ceann Comhairle who shall be Chairman, and fifteen other Members to be nominated by the Committee of Selection, be appointed; that the Committee be empowered to consider matters of procedure generally and to recommend any additions or amendments of the existing Standing Orders that may be deemed necessary, and to consider also and report as and when requested to do so as to the privileges attaching to Members;


That the quorum of the Committee be seven [Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach].


2nd May, 1957:—Members nominated to serve on the Committee:—Deputies Blowick, Collins, Cunningham, Hilliard, Kyne, Loughman, MacCarthy, McQuillan, Ó Brian (Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach), Michael J. O’Higgins O’Malley, Ormonde, O’Sullivan, Palmer and Sweetman.


6th March, 1958:—Deputy Ormonde (Minister for Posts and Telegraphs) discharged and Deputy Booth appointed in his place.


12th November, 1958:—Deputy Kyne discharged and Deputy Corish appointed in substitution for him.


9th July, 1959:—Deputy Hilliard (Minister for Posts and Telegraphs) discharged and Deputy Healy appointed in substitution for him.


12th November, 1959:—Deputy McQuillan discharged and Deputy Russell appointed in substitution for him.


7th April, 1960—Deputy Corish discharged and Deputy Kyne appointed in substitution for him.


30th November, 1960:—Ordered: That, subject to the concurrence of the Seanad, the Committee on Procedure and Privileges of the Dáil be joined with the Committee on Procedure and Privileges of the Seanad to consider the matter of a scheme for contributory pensions for members of the Oireachtas under section 6A of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) Act, 1938 (inserted by section 5 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1960) and, if the Joint Committee so thinks fit, subject to the proviso that no charge on public funds may be imposed thereby, to make such a scheme [Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach].


Message to be sent to the Seanad acquainting it accordingly.

ORDERS OF REFERENCE.

5th June, 1957:—Ordered: That, in pursuance of Standing Order 59, the Committee on Procedure and Privileges be appointed; and that it be referred to the Committee of Selection to nominate the members of the Committee [Senator Ó Ciosáin].


19th June, 1957:—Members nominated to serve on the Committee:—Senators Colley, Mrs. Dowdall, Michael Hayes, Murphy, Ó Ciosáin, John O’Donovan, Tomás Ó Maoláin, Ted O’Sullivan, Ryan and Stanford.


18th November, 1959:—Senator O’Quigley nominated to fill the vacancy occasioned by the death of Senator Baxter (Leas-Chathaoirleach).


30th November, 1960:—Ordered: That, subject to the concurrence of the Dáil, the Committee on Procedure and Privileges of the Seanad be joined with the Committee on Procedure and Privileges of the Dáil to consider the matter of a scheme for contributory pensions for members of the Oireachtas under section 6A of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) Act, 1938 (inserted by section 5 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1960) and, if the Joint Committee so thinks fit, subject to the proviso that no charge on public funds may be imposed thereby, to make such a scheme [Senator Tomás Ó Maoláin].
