1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Deputy Dillon (in the Chair), Deputies Booth, J. Brennan, Cunningham, Jones, T. Lynch and Sheldon.

3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1957-58.

Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1957-58 was resumed. The following Account was again examined:— Agriculture. The following Accounts were disposed of:—Office of the Minister for Social Welfare, Social Insurance, Social Assistance, Roinn na Gaeltachta and Comptroller and Auditor General.

4. Witnesses Examined.

Mr. M. J. Barry (Deputy Secretary, Department of Agriculture), Mr. P. J. Keady (Secretary, Department of Social Welfare), Mr. S. Ó Braonáin (Rúnaí, Roinn na Gaeltachta), Mr. E. F. Suttle (Secretary and Director of Audit), Mr. C. J. Byrnes, Mr. P. S. Mac Guill, and Mr. J. F. MacInerney (Department of Finance), and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.
