IMEACHTA AN CHOISTE.THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.Dé Céadaoin, 8 Aibreán, 1959.Wednesday, 8th April, 1959.1. The Committee met at 4 p.m. 2. Members Present. The following members were present: Deputy S. Flanagan (in the Chair) and Deputy Haughey, Senators O’Quigley and Ryan. 3. Fisheries (Consolidation) Bill, 1958. The Committee took the Bill into consideration. (i) Section 1 agreed to. (ii) Section 2. Amendment proposed (Senator Ryan): “In page 18, subsection (1), line 14, to delete ‘1st day of December, 1958’ and substitute ‘1st day of October, 1959’.” Amendment agreed to. Amendment proposed (Senator Ryan): “In page 18, subsection (2), line 16, to delete ‘1st day of December, 1958’ and substitute ‘1st day of October, 1959’.” Amendment agreed to. Section, as amended, agreed to. (iii) Section 3. Amendment proposed (Senator Ryan): “In page 19, subsection (1), line 5, to delete ‘or 119’.” Amendment agreed to. Amendment proposed (Senator Ryan): “In page 20, subsection (1), lines 49 and 50, to delete ‘1st day of December, 1958’ and substitute ‘1st day of October, 1959’.” Amendment agreed to. Amendment proposed (Senator Ryan): “In page 22, between lines 39 and 40, to insert in the section the following new subsection:— ‘(3) In this Act references to any enactment shall be construed as references to that enactment as amended by any subsequent enactment.”’ Amendment agreed to. Section, as amended, agreed to. (iv) Sections 4 to 10 inclusive, agreed to. (v) Section 11. Amendment proposed (Senator Ryan): “In page 25, subsection (2) (d), line 34, to delete ‘256’ and substitute ‘251, 256, 266’.” Amendment agreed to. Section, as amended, agreed to. (vi) Sections 12 to 63 inclusive, agreed to. (vii) Section 64. Amendment proposed (Senator Ryan): “In page 49, line 6, to delete ‘an engine’ and substitute ‘a fishing engine’.” Amendment agreed to. Section, as amended, agreed to. (viii) Sections 65 to 335 inclusive, agreed to. (ix) First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Schedules agreed to. (x) Title agreed to. 4. Report of the Committee. The Chairman brought forward a Draft Report which was read as follows:— “The Committee has considered the Bill and has made amendments thereto which appear to it to be necessary to the improvement of the form of the Bill. The Committee is of the opinion that the Bill, as amended, represents the existing law.” Motion made (Senator Ryan): “That the Chairman’s Draft Report be the Report of the Committee.” Question put, and agreed to. 5. Adjournment. The Committee adjourned at 4.15 p.m. |
