I am directed by the Select Committee on Statutory Instruments to refer to the memorandum on the subject of Defence Force Regulations which was furnished by your Department on 20th March, 1956, under reference 3/12004, to a previous Select Committee on Statutory Instruments. The Committee would like to be advised of the progress made in the work of consolidating Defence Force Regulations and would be glad to learn if it is now possible to say when the volume or volumes of codified instruments will be available.

With reference to your minute dated 12 Nollaig, 1958, on the subject of the consolidation of Defence Force Regulations, I am directed by an tAire Cosanta to state that, because of a reorganisation of duties to effect staff economies, little advance has been made in consolidation. It is not possible to indicate with any degree of precision when the final codification will be achieved.
