APPENDIX VIII.CONTRACT FOR WATERFORD TELEPHONE EXCHANGE —PAYMENTS TO CONTRACTOR.Cléireach, An Coiste um Chuntais Phoiblí, During my examination before the Committee of Public Accounts on 20th November, 1958, I undertook to supply information concerning the contract for Waterford Telephone Exchange. The price stipulated when the contract was entered into in September 1949 was £68,423 5s. 7d. An amount of £75,387 1s. 8d. was paid to the contractor, the extra amount of £6,963 16s. 1d. being due to £4,486 3s. 2d. becoming payable under the “Price Variation Clause” of the contract (rise or fall in labour or material costs) and £2,477 12s. 11d. in respect of miscellaneous alterations and additions required by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs during the building work.
