PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE.

1. The Committee met at 10.30 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Deputy Sweetman (in the Chair), Deputies Haughey and Sheldon and Senators O’Quigley, Ryan and Stanford.

3. Appearances for the Promoters.

Mr. Malcolm H. G. Ellis, S.C., Mr. Vincent Landy, B.L., and Messrs. Franks and Oulton, Parliamentary Agents, appeared for the Promoters, the Governors and Members of the Committee of Management of the Convalescent Home, Stillorgan.

4. Report from the Commissioners of Charitable Donations and Bequests for Ireland.

A report on the Bill from the Commissioners of Charitable Donations and Bequests for Ireland was read.

5. Hearings in support of Preamble.

Mr. Malcolm H. G. Ellis, S.C., and Mr. Vincent Landy, B.L., were heard in support of the Preamble of the Bill and called evidence.

6. Witnesses Examined.

Rt. Hon. Mrs. Catherine Byrne, Lord Mayor of Dublin, Chairman of the Committee of Management, Mr. Oliver Clark, Secretary, Convalescent Home, Stillorgan, Mrs. Alison Hall and Mr. J. M. Fairweather, F.R.I.A.I., Members of the Committee of Management and Dr. Desmond de C. Wheeler, Visiting Physician, sworn and examined.
