1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Dillon (in the Chair), Deputies S. Browne, Carty, Desmond, Jones and T. Lynch.


3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1956-57.


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1956-57 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—Dundrum Asylum, National Gallery, Office of the Minister for Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Technical Instruction, Science and Art, Reformatory and Industrial Schools, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, Posts and Telegraphs and Wireless Broadcasting.


4. Witnesses Examined.


Dr. W. J. Coyne (Governor, Dundrum Asylum), Mr. B. MacNamara (Registrar, National Gallery), Mr. T. Ó Raifeartaigh (Secretary, Department of Education), Mr. L. Ó Broin (Secretary, Department of Posts and Telegraphs), Mr. P. S. MacGuill, Mr. J. F. MacInerney and Mr. S. Ó Buachalla (Department of Finance), the Comptroller and Auditor General and the Secretary and Director of Audit were examined.

The Committee adjourned at 12.10 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
