ORDERS OF REFERENCE.

29th May, 1957:—Ordered: That in pursuance of Standing Order No. 109 of the Standing Orders relative to Public Business, a Select Committee be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee of Seanad Éireann to constitute the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills; and that the members of the Committee be nominated by the Committee of Selection [Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach].


Ordered: That a Message be sent to the Seanad acquainting it accordingly.


5th June, 1957:—Message from the Seanad: “Seanad Éireann has made the following Order:—


‘That, in pursuance of Standing Order 91 F of the Standing Orders relative to Public Business, a Select Committee be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee of Dáil Éireann to constitute the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills and that it be referred to the Committee of Selection to nominate the members of the Select Committee.”’


13th June, 1957:—Members nominated to serve on the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills: Deputies Seán Flanagan, Charles Haughey and Patrick O’Donnell.


20th November, 1957:—Message from the Seanad: “Seanad Éireann has passed the following Resolution in which the concurrence of Dáil Éireann is desired:—


‘That it is expedient that the Destructive Insects and Pests (Consolidation) Bill, 1957, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.”


Resolved: That the Dáil concur with the Seanad in its Resolution communicated to the Dáil the 13th day of November, 1957, that it is expedient that the Destructive Insects and Pests (Consolidation) Bill, 1957, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills [Minister for Agriculture].


Ordered: That a Message be sent to the Seanad acquainting it accordingly.


28th November, 1957:—Ordered: That the Destructive Insects and Pests (Consolidation) Bill, 1957, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.


Ordered: That the first meeting of the Committee be held on a date not earlier than 5th December, 1957 [Minister for External Affairs].


Ordered: That a Message be sent to the Seanad acquainting it accordingly.

5th June, 1957: Message from the Dáil: “Dáil Éireann has made the following Order:


‘That in pursuance of Standing Order No. 109 of the Standing Orders relative to Public Business, a Select Committee be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee of Seanad Éireann to constitute the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills; and that the members of the Committee be nominated by the Committee of Selection.”’


Ordered: That in pursuance of Standing Order 91F of the Standing Orders relative to Public Business, a Select Committee be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee of Dáil Éireann to constitute the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills and that it be referred to the Committee of Selection to nominate the members of the Select Committee [Senator Ó Ciosáin].

13th November, 1957:—Resolved: That it is expedient that the Destructive Insects and Pests (Consolidation) Bill, 1957, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills [Senator Ó Ciosáin].


Ordered: That a Message be sent to the Dáil acquainting it accordingly.


27th November, 1957:—The Order of the day was read for the consideration of the following Message from the Dáil:—


“Dáil Éireann has passed the following Resolution:—


‘That the Dáil concur with the Seanad in its Resolution communicated to the Dáil the 13th day of November, 1957, that it is expedient that the Destructive Insects and Pests (Consolidation) Bill, 1957, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.”’
