Committee Reports::Report No. 01 (1958) - Statutory Instruments [20]::11 July, 1958::Appendix

APPENDIX XV.

Poultry Hatcheries Regulations, 1957 (S.I. No. 229 of 1957).

Rúnaí,

Roinn Talmhaíochta.

I am directed by the Select Committee on Statutory Instruments to state that it has had the Poultry Hatcheries Regulations, 1957 [S.I. No. 229 of 1957] under consideration. Inasmuch as these regulations are comprised entirely of detailed amendments of the Poultry Hatcheries Regulations, 1953 (S.I. No. 33 of 1953) and in view of the fact that no one article of the regulations can be understood without reference to the 1953 regulations, the Committee feels that in the interests of clarity consideration might have been given to the withdrawal of the 1953 regulations and the substitution therefor of new regulations which would embody the amendments prescribed in the instruments under reference. The Committee would be glad to be furnished with the observations of your Department on this point.

As it is desired to consider this matter again at its next meeting the Committee would appreciate the favour of a reply by 28th instant.

M. G. KILROY,

Cléireach an Rogha-Choiste.

9 Aibreán, 1958.

26th April, 1958.

Cléireach an Rogha-Choiste,

Seanad Éireann.

With reference to your minute of 9th April regarding the Poultry Hatcheries Regulations, 1957, I am directed by the Minister for Agriculture to inform you that the preparation of these regulations was delayed pending a decision as to the introduction into Dáil Éireann of a Bill to amend the Poultry Hatcheries Act, 1947 which would occasion numerous amendments of the Poultry Hatcheries Regulations, 1953. Towards the middle of 1957 it was found that the making of certain amending regulations could no longer be deferred and the Attorney General was requested to prepare the draft regulations.

Should the Minister decide to introduce the amending Bill and if it is passed, it is proposed to prepare comprehensive regulations incorporating all amendments.

J. N. D’ARCY.
