APPENDIX X.

REGISTERS AND RENTALS OF STATE LANDS AND BUILDINGS.

Cléireach,

An Coiste um Chuntais Phoiblí.

With reference to my letter dated 8 Meán Fómhair, 1953, relative to the compilation of complete registers and rentals of all State lands and buildings administered by the Commissioners of Public Works, I enclose a statement of the progress made in the work during the year ended 31st March, 1954.

(Signed) DIARMUID Ó hEIGCEARTUIGH,

Chairman,

Commissioners of Public Works.

16th February, 1955.

Mapping.—During the year 64 properties were surveyed while 73 properties were mapped, the areas concerned being Counties Carlow, Donegal, Galway, Leix, Longford and Wicklow and Dublin City.

The number of cases dealt with was less than in 1952/53; this is accounted for by the fact that, generally speaking, the survey and mapping of properties in Dublin City involve a considerably greater amount of work than provincial properties.

From the initiation of the Property Rental up to 31st March, 1954, a total of 795 properties have been surveyed of which 784 have been mapped.

Legal.—Progress on the legal work was hampered by shortage of staff in the office of the Finance Solicitor. The work in 68 cases in Counties Carlow, Donegal, Galway, Leix, Longford, Sligo, Wicklow and Dublin City was completed.

Secretariat.—During the year 174 properties were finally disposed of, the Counties concerned being Carlow, Donegal, Galway, Leix, Longford, Sligo and Wicklow.

Perambulation.—The systematic perambulation of all properties whether surveyed or not, in as full a manner as circumstances permitted, was continued throughout the year.
