THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

Dé Céadaoin, 29ú Deireadh Fómhair, 1952.

Wednesday, 29th October, 1952.

1. The Committee met at 5 p.m. in Room 106.


2. The following members were present:—


An Cathaoirleach (Chairman); Senators Goulding, Hawkins, M. Hayes, Hearne, Loughman, O’Brien, T. J. O’Donovan, P. F. O’Reilly and O’Rourkc.


3. The Order of the Seanad of the 29th October, 1952, referring to the Committee the question of the effect of Senator William McMullen’s bankruptcy on his membership of the Seanad was read.


4. The Certificate of the Official Assignee in Bankruptcy re Senator William McMullen was produced to the Committee.


5. The Committee deliberated.


6. A draft Report brought in by the Chairman was read as follows:—


1. The Committee has examined the question referred to the Committee by Order of the Seanad of the 29th October, 1952, namely, the effect of Senator William McMullen’s bankruptcy on his membership of the Seanad.


2. The Committee had before it the Certificate of the Official Assignee in Bankruptcy that Senator William McMullen was adjudicated a bankrupt in the High Court of Justice on the 16th September, 1952.


3. The Committee reports that in consequence of such adjudication of bankruptcy the said William McMullen ceased to be a member of the Seanad on the said 16th September, 1952.


Draft report agreed to unanimously.
