ORDERS OF REFERENCE.14 June, 1944:—Ordered, That a Committee on Procedure and Privileges consisting of the Ceann Comhairle who shall be Chairman, and fifteen other Deputies to be nominated by the Committee of Selection, be appointed; that the Committee be empowered to consider matters of procedure generally and to recommend any additions or amendments of the existing Standing Orders that may be deemed necessary; to consider also and report as and when requested to do so as to the privilege attaching to Deputies; That the quorum of the Committee be seven (Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach). 14 June, 1944:—Deputies appointed to serve on the Committee:—Deputies Beegan, Breen, Briscoe, E. Coogan, Dillon, Donnellan, Doyle, Everett, Hughes, Kennedy, Kissane (Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach), Loughman, Norton, O’Loghlen and T. O’Sullivan. 24 April, 1947:—The Ceann Comhairle announced that the Superintendent of the Oireachtas had informed him of a fracas which occurred outside the Chamber this evening between two members, Deputies Coburn and Kennedy, as a result of a challenge issued and accepted across the floor of the House. The Ceann Comhairle ruled that the matter constituted prima facie a breach of privilege. Ordered, That the matter be referred to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges. (Taoiseach.) |
