THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

Thursday, 23rd March, 1939.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.

2. Present: Deputy Dillon (in the Chair), Deputies Benson, B. Brady, Cole, Hogan, McMenamin, O’Loghlen, O’Rourke and R. Walsh.

3. Consideration of the Appropriation Accounts for the year 1937-38 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—Oireachtas, Department of President of the Executive Council, Office of Minister for Finance, Commissions and Special Inquiries, State Laboratory, Civil Service Commission, Property Losses Compensation, Personal Injuries Compensation, Superannuation and Retired Allowances, Rates on Government Departments, Secret Service, Tariff Commission, Expenses under the Electoral Act and the Juries Act, Miscellaneous Expenses, Supplementary Agricultural Grants, Law Charges, Universities and Colleges, Electrical Battery Development, Quit Rent Office, Management of Government Stocks, Employment Schemes, Export Bounties and Subsidies, Repayment of Dáil Eireann External Loans, Grant to ex-Governor-General, Air Transport, Repayments to Contingency Fund.

4. Mr. J. J. McElligott (Secretary, Department of Finance), and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.

5. The Chairman brought forward a Draft Interim Report, which was read the first and second time and passed.

Ordered: to report accordingly.

6. The Committee adjourned at 1.30 p.m. till Wednesday next.
