DÁIL EIREANN.

ORDERS OF REFERENCE.

26th October, 1938.—Resolved: That it is expedient that a Select Committee to be appointed by the Dáil be joined with a Select Committee to be appointed by the Seanad to prepare draft joint Standing Orders relative to Private Business;


That the Select Committee of each House consist of seven members [Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach].


Ordered: That a Message be sent to the Seanad requesting their concurrence in this Resolution.


23rd November, 1938—Message from the Seanad:—


“Seanad Eireann has passed the following Resolution:—


‘That the Seanad concurs with the Dáil in their Resolution communicated to the Seanad the 26th day of October, 1938, that it is expedient that a Select Committee to be appointed by the Dáil be joined with a Select Committee to be appointed by the Seanad to prepare draft joint Standing Orders relative to Private Business;


That the Select Committee of each House consist of seven members.”’


Ordered: That a Select Committee consisting of seven members be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee to be appointed by the Seanad to prepare draft joint Standing Orders relative to Private Business;


That the quorum be three;


That the Committee be nominated by the Committee of Selection [Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach].


Ordered: That a Message be sent to the Seanad acquainting them accordingly.


14th February, 1939.—Deputies appointed to serve on the Select Committee:—The Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach, the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, Deputies Carty, Cole, Kissane, Linehan and Pattison.

16th November, 1938—Message from the Dáil:—


“Dáil Eireann has passed the following Resolution in which the concurrence of Seanad Eireann is desired:—


‘That it is expedient that a Select Committee to be appointed by the Dáil be joined with a Select Committee to be appointed by the Seanad to prepare draft joint Standing Orders relative to Private Business:


That the Select Committee of each House consist of seven members.”’


Resolved: That the Seanad concurs with the Dáil in their Resolution communicated to the Seanad the 26th day of October, 1938, that it is expedient that a Select Committee to be appointed by the Dáil be joined with a Select Committee to be appointed by the Seanad to prepare draft joint Standing Orders relative to Private Business; and,


That the Select Committee of each House consist of seven members [Senator Quirke].


Ordered: That a Message be sent to the Dáil accordingly.


30th November, 1938—Message from the Dáil:—


“Dáil Eireann has this day made the following Order:—


‘That a Select Committee consisting of seven members be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee to be appointed by the Seanad to prepare draft joint Standing Orders relative to Private Business.”’


Ordered: That a Select Committee consisting of seven members be appointed to join with the Select Committee appointed by the Dáil to prepare draft joint Standing Orders relative to Private Business;


That the quorum be three;


That the Committee be nominated by the Committee of Selection [Senator Quirke].


Ordered: That a Message be sent to the Dáil accordingly.


8th December, 1938.—Senators appointed to serve on the Select Committee:—Senators Baxter, Byrne, Campbell, Crosbie, Farnan, Joseph Johnston and McEllin.
