1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Present:—Deputy Brennan (in the Chair), Deputies S. Broderick, Derrig, Doherty, T. Hennessy, Law, Mongan, S. T. O’Kelly and Ward.


3. Deputy S. T. O’Kelly moved:


“That the Press be not admitted to this meeting of the Special Committee.”


Question put, and agreed to.


4. The Committee took the Bill into consideration.


(i) Section 1.


Motion made (Deputy Mongan):


“That Section 1 stand part of the Bill.”


Question put; the Committee divided: For, 6; Against, 3.


For:—Deputies Brennan, S. Broderick, Doherty, T. Hennessy, Law and Mongan.


Against:—Deputies Derrig, S. T. O’Kelly and Ward.


Question declared carried.


(ii) Section 2.


Amendment proposed (Deputy T. O’Kelly):


‘To delete sub-section (1) and substitute the following:—


“(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in sections 5 or 6 of the Amending Act one seventy-fifth part of every available surplus shall be paid to the Minister for Local Government and shall be paid or applied by the said Minister in such manner as he shall think proper to or for the benefit of such nursing organisations as he shall think fit.” ’


Question put; the Committee divided: For, 3; Against, 6.

Against:—Deputies Brennan, S. Broderick, Doherty, T. Hennessy, Law and Mongan.

5. Draft Report brought in by the Chairman (Deputy Brennan) read a first and second time, and passed as follows:—


The Special Committee has gone through the Bill and has not made any amendment thereunto. The Bill is reported to the Dáil without amendment.

6. The Committee concluded its business at 11.55 a.m.
