IMEACHTA AN CHOISTE.PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.Dé Céadaoin, 17 Abrán, 1929.Wednesday, 17 April, 1929.1. The Committee met at noon. 2. Present: The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Commerce (in the Chair), Deputies Beckett, Colohan, Good and Lemass. 3. (iv) Section 4 (continued). Amendment proposed (Deputy Colohan, on behalf of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Commerce):— “In sub-section (3), paragraph (b), page 3, to insert at the end of the paragraph the words ‘or, if seventy-five per cent. of such average weekly earnings amounts to less than sixteen shillings, a sum not exceeding sixteen shillings.”’ Question put and agreed to. Amendment proposed (Deputy Colohan, on behalf of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Commerce):— “In sub-section (4), paragraph (a), page 3, line 46, to delete the words ‘equivalent to’ and substitute the words ‘not exceeding.”’ Question put and agreed to. Amendment proposed (Deputy Colohan, on behalf of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Commerce):— “In sub-section (4), paragraph (b), page 3, line 51, to delete the words ‘equivalent to seventy-five per cent. of that difference’ and substitute the words ‘not exceeding seventy-five per cent. of that difference, or, if seventy-five per cent. of that difference amounts to less than sixteen shillings, a sum not exceeding sixteen shillings.”’ Question put and agreed to. Amendment proposed (Deputy Colohan, on behalf of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Commerce):— “In sub-section (5), page 3, at the end of the sub-section to insert the following words ‘and in terms made applicable to this section.”’ Question put and agreed to. Section, as amended, agreed to. (v) Sections 5 and 6 agreed to. (vi) Section 7. Amendment proposed (Deputy Colohan, on behalf of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Commerce):— “In lines 12 and 13 to delete the words and figures ‘The provisions of sections 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of this Act and of the amendments of any scheme made in pursuance thereof’ and to substitute the words and figure ‘The foregoing provisions (except section 1) of this Act and of the amendments of any scheme made in pursuance of the said provisions (except as aforesaid).”’ Question put and agreed to. Section, as amended, agreed to. (vii) Sections 8 and 9 agreed to. (viii) Schedule agreed to. (ix) Title agreed to. 4. Draft Report brought in by the Chairman, read a first and second time, and passed as follows:— The Special Committee has gone through the Bill and has made amendments thereunto.
