ORDERS OF REFERENCE.

25 October, 1928. Resolved by the Dáil: That it is expedient that a Joint Committee, consisting of seven members of the Dáil and seven members of the Seanad, be appointed to consider the working of the Betting Act, 1926, and to report what amendments of the existing law relating to the business of bookmaking are desirable.


That the Committee have power to send for persons, papers and records [Minister for Finance].


Ordered by the Dáil: That a Message be sent to the Seanad acquainting them accordingly.


26 October, 1928. Resolved by the Seanad: That the Seanad agrees that it is expedient that a Joint Committee, consisting of seven members of the Dáil and seven members of the Seanad, be appointed to consider the working of the Betting Act, 1926, and to report what amendments of the existing law relating to the business of bookmaking are desirable; and


That the Committee have power to send for persons, papers and records [Senator MacLoughlin].


Ordered by the Seanad: That a Message be sent to the Dáil accordingly.


31 October, 1928. Ordered by the Dail: That a Joint Committee, consisting of seven members of the Dáil and seven members of the Seanad, be appointed to consider the working of the Betting Act, 1926, and to report what amendments of the existing Law relating to the business of bookmaking are desirable;


That the Committee have power to send for persons, papers and records [Minister for Finance].


Ordered: That the Committee of Selection nominate seven Deputies to serve on the Joint Committee [Minister for Finance].


7 November, 1928. The following Deputies were nominated accordingly: Deputies Anthony, A. Byrne, Cooper, P. S. Doyle, MacEntee Ruttledge and Shaw.


28 November, 1928. Ordered by the Seanad: That a Joint Committee consisting of seven members of the Dáil and seven members of the Seanad be appointed to consider the working of the Betting Act, 1926, and to report what amendments of the existing law relating to the business of bookmaking are desirable;


That the Committee have power to send for persons, papers and records;


That the Committee of Selection nominate seven Senators to serve on the Joint Committee.


28 November, 1928. The following Senators were nominated accordingly: Senators Bennett, Foran, MacGuinness, MacLoughlin, Sir Bryan Mahon, Molloy and Parkinson.


4 December, 1928. (1) Deputy A. Byrne ceased to be a member of the Joint Committee on election to the Seanad.


(2) Senator Sir Bryan Mahon ceased to be a member of the Joint Committee.


19 January, 1929. Senator Sir Bryan Mahon reappointed on the Joint Committee.


27 February, 1929. Deputy J. X. Murphy appointed.
