PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE.

Déardaoin, 31° Bealtaine, 1928.

Thursday, 31st May, 1928.

1. The Joint Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Present: Senators Lord Glenavy, J. C. Dowdall and Thomas Farren; Deputies J. W. Beckett, Vincent Rice and J. T. Wolfe.


The Minister for Justice was also present.


3. Motion made (Deputy Beckett):


“That Lord Glenavy be the Chairman of the Joint Committee.”


Question put, and agreed to.


4. The Joint Committee discussed the procedure to be adopted, and decided that the first matter to be considered was whether the Circuit Court should for the purpose of its Rules be regarded as filling the place of the former County Court, though with extended jurisdiction, or as a Court which by reason of this extension required the powers and machinery of the High Court.


5. The Committee adjourned at 12.45 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, 7th June.
