PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE.

Thursday, 8th March, 1928.

1. The Joint Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Present: The Ceann Comhairle, The Cathaoirleach of the Seanad; Deputies de Valera, Morrissey, G. O’Sullivan, Ruttledge and Tierney; Senators Bennett, Douglas, Jameson, O’Farrell and O’Hanlon.


3. Motion made (Senator O’Hanlon):


“That the Ceann Comhairle be Chairman of the Joint Committee.”


Question put, and agreed to.


The Ceann Comhairle took the Chair.


4. Ordered: That the quorum be seven, including at least two members of each House [Deputy de Valera].


5. Ordered: That no persons other than Deputies or Senators be present during the proceedings of the Joint Committee [Senator Bennett].


6. Motion made (Senator Bennett):


“That the Joint Committee first discuss the methods of nomination and election to the Seanad.”


Motion, by leave, withdrawn.


7. The Joint Committee adjourned at 12.20 p.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday next.
