Committee Reports::Report - Accommodation and the Restaurant 1923-1926::12 May, 1927::Report

REPORT.

The Joint Committee has agreed to present the following Report and Accounts dealing with the matters referred to it:—

1. As regards the supervision of internal accommodation the Joint Committee has discharged much business of a routine nature. In two instances more important matters came before it for consideration. Firstly, arising out of the transference of Leinster House, proposals for extensive alterations, necessary to render the building suitable, were laid before the Joint Committee and approved. These involved changes in the Dáil Chamber; the removal of the Seanad Chamber to its present location; the provision of a Library, committee rooms and private rooms for ministers and parties; and a redistribution of the office accommodation available for the officers and staff of the Oireachtas. Secondly, proposals were submitted for the alteration and extension of the Restaurant. These were likewise approved. They will involve further building, and preparations have already been made to carry them into effect.

2. Audited accounts showing the financial position of the Restaurant at the end of each year since the Joint Committee was set up are hereto annexed. The turnover of the Restaurant depends very largely upon the frequency of the sittings of the two Houses, earnings fluctuating according to the number of sitting days.

(Signed),

SÉAMUS N. O DÓLÁIN,

Chairman of the Joint Committee.
