DAIL EIREANN.CEAD THUARASGABHÁIL CHOISTE NA gCUNTAISI PUIBLI I gCOIR NA BLIANA, 1925-6.FIRST REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR 1925-6.1. The Committee has -made progress in the matters referred to it, and herewith presents a First Report. 2. Expenditure in excess of the amount voted by the Oireachtas has been incurred in respect of the Service shown in the Schedule hereto. 3. For the sum involved in this Excess the sanction of the Oireachtas will be required. 4. It was explained to the Committee that this Excess was due primarily to matters affecting Sub-head D. 3 (Rural Industries). The expenditure Sub-heads of the Vote other than Sub-head D. 3, showed in the aggregate a net saving of £5,841 5s., but this saving was more than off-set by an Excess of £7,448 19s. 6d. on Sub-head D. 3 alone. The large extent of this Excess on Sub-head D. 3 is due to the fact that the estimated figure of £14,000 for this Sub-head was inserted under a misapprehension. The figure'' of £14,000 had been calculated with reference to a portion of the period covered by the Vote, the corresponding figure for the full period which ought properly to have been shown in the Vote being £20,868. £5,841 5s. of the Excess on Sub-head D. 3 has, with the sanction of the Minister for Finance, been met from savings on other Sub-heads of the Vote, leaving £1,607 14s. 6d. to be provided. Of this amount it is proposed that £1,597 14s. 6d. should be met from the receipts on the Vote which have exceeded the authorised appropriations in aid by £9,617 13s. 10d., leaving a nominal sum of £10 to be voted. 5.
