SHOP HOURS AMENDMENT BILL, 1925.

A Chara,

Your letter of the 18th. instant has been under the consideration of the Commissioners for the Country Borough of Dublin, and they have decided that it would not be desirable for the Corporation to interfere with the framing of the proposed Bill, as they consider this is a matter of public policy to be settled by the Oireachtas. Their view is that the function of the Corporation as a local authority is to administer the law in whatever form the same may be settled by the Oireachtas.

In these circumstances the Commissioners do not wish to be represented when the Committee is taking evidence in regard to the Bill.

Mise le meas,

(Signed) JOHN J. MURPHY,

Cléireach na Cathrach.
