Oireachtais (Witnesses Oaths) Bill, 1924. (i.) Sections 1 to 4 inclusive, agreed to. (ii.) Title agreed to. Bill to be reported. 4. Private Bill Costs Bill, 1924. (i.) Section 1. Amendment proposed (Senator Brown): “In line 19 to delete the word ‘of’ and to substitute therefor the words ‘made jointly by.’” Question put, and agreed to. Amendment proposed (Senator Brown): “In line 30 to add at the end of the line the words ‘relative to Private Business.’” Question put, and agreed to. Section 1 as amended, agreed to. (ii.) Section 2 agreed to. (iii.) Section 3. Amendment proposed (Senator Brown): “In line 40, after the word ‘orders,” to insert the words ‘relative to Private Business.’” Question put, and agreed to. Section 3, as amended, agreed to. (iv.) Section 4. Amendment proposed (Senator Brown): “In line 7 to delete the word ‘of’ and to substitute therefor the words ‘made jointly by.’” Question put, and agreed to. Amendment proposed (Senator Brown): “In line 34 to delete the word ‘of’ and to substitute therefor the words ‘made jointly by.’” Question put, and agreed to. Section 5 as amended, agreed to. (vi.) Section 6. Amendment proposed (Senator Brown): Before sub-section (2) to insert a new sub-section as follows:— “(2) Every order made under this section shall be laid before each House of the Oireachtas as soon as may be after it is made, and if a resolution is passed by either such House within the next subsequent twenty-one days on which such House has sat annulling such order, such order shall be annulled accordingly, but without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under such order.” Question put, and agreed to. Amendment proposed (Senator Brown): “To delete all after the word ‘shall,’ in line 54, up to and including the word ‘and,’ in line 55.” Question put, and agreed to. Section 6, as amended, agreed to. (vii.) Section 7. Amendment proposed (Senator Brown): “In line 58 to delete the word ‘of’ and to substitute therefor the words ‘made jointly by.’” Question put, and agreed to. Amendment proposed (Senator Brown): To add at the end of the section the following words: “and any public bill which has been referred to the Examiner by the Ceann Comhairle of the Dail or the Cathaoirleach of the Seanad under Standing Orders made jointly by Dail Eireann and Seanad Eireann relative to Private Business.” Question put, and agreed to. Section 7, as amended, agreed to. Section 8 agreed to. (ix.) Title.
