Tuarasgabháil ón gCoiste ar Artiogail 21 agus 23 den Bhun- Reacht agus ar an socrú chun Oifigigh an tSeanaid do cheapa agus do dhíol, etc.

(Report of Committee on Articles 21 and 23 of the Constitution and suggested appointments and remuneration of Officers of the Seanad.)

Do ceapadh an Coiste seo do réir na rún so leanas do cuireadh i bhfeidhm ag an Seanad ar an 13adh Mí na Nodlag, 1922:—


(a) Go gceapfar Coiste de Sheanad Eireann chun beartuithe do réir Airtiogal 21 agus 23 den Bhun-Reacht agus chun tuarasgabháil do dhéanamh ar an socrú a mholfaid chun Oifigigh an tSeanaid do cheapa, agus do dhíol, etc.


(b) Go mbeidh ar an gCoiste seo:—Sir T. Grattan Esmonde, A. Jameson, Sir John Griffith, J. J. Parkinson, O. St. J. Gogarty, T. Farren, T. Westropp Bennett, Siobhán Bean an Phaoraigh, M. O’Dea, Muiris O Mórtha, Eamonn Mac Giollaiasachta.


Do réir na rún do tháinig an Coiste le chéile dhá uair agus do shocruighdar d’aon ghuth an tuarasgabháil a ghabhann leis seo do mhola don Seanad.

The Appoinments’ Committee selected by the Senate to consider the scale of remunerations of Officers and Members of the Senate, and to appoint a Clerk and Deputy Clerk to the Senate sat on December 13th and 14th, and consisted of the following Senators:—Jameson, Sir John Griffith, Gogarty, Westropp, Bennett, O'Dea, Parkinson, McLysaght, Col. Moore, Sir Thomas Esmonde, Farren, Mrs. Wyse Power.


Senator Colonel Moore acted as Chairman, and Senator Gogarty as Secretary.


The Committee recommended:—


1. Free first-class vouchers of season tickets to and from the homes of Senators to be provided.


2. That the Scale* of Salaries remain the same as that of Dáil Eireann.


3. That Major General Dalton and Captain O’Keeffe be elected Clerk and Assistant Clerk to the Senate. And that the first period of twelve months be probationary.

* Note.—In the case of the Clerk and Assistant Clerk to the Senate the following adjustment was decided on:—Clerk to receive £1,100 per annum. Deputy Clerk to receive £950 per annum.
